The City of the Circle
The City of the circle, Sebring, Florida was founded in 1911 by George Sebring. This pioneer conceived a unique circular plan as a focal point for this entire lakeside community. His idea was that all roads should lead to and from the center of the community, and despite many modern highway improvements since, thus it remains today. The community experienced a boom era in the 1920's as a result of its founder's plans.

From historic circle downtown to the modern International Raceway, Sebring is known around the world for its warm hospitality and welcome. Sebring is known for its racing activity in the fall and spring each year. Our community also offers many other activities and events for both young and old to enjoy throughout the year.

People can enjoy nature at its best in nearby Highlands Hammock State Park, the oldest in Florida's State Park System. Golfers have many excellent courses to choose from that challenge skills of all levels. Many other opportunities to enjoy life in the outdoors also exist in the Greater Sebring area, including bicycling and bird watching.

Highlands Hammock State Park

Highlands Hammock State Park
Elevated boardwalks meander through an old-growth bald cypress swamp with cabbage palmettos, ferns, bromelaids, a thousand years ago, and one is possibly the largest oak in Florida with a girth of over 36 feet.

White tailed deer, alligators, gopher tortoises, frogs, otters, golden silk spiders, pileated woodpeckers, red-shouldered hawks, barred owls and Florida scrub-jays are common in the park. On other occasions you may run into the Black bear. Click here to learn more about Highlands County Profile.

Lakes in the area

Whats not to love about Sebring, Florida. Recreation opportunities in the Sebring area abound for people of all ages, including fresh water swimming in our many lakes, fishing, boating, water skiing and other water sports. International Raceway

Sebring is the home of America's oldest and most famous road racing track. Founded over a half century ago, Sebring International Raceway is the Mecca of sports car racing, hosting the famous 12 hours of Endurance Race every March. This race is attended by over 110,000 people each year - including race teams, drivers, major vendors and race fans from all over the world. A Historic Sports Care Race is held two weeks prior to this major event each year. It draws sports car racing enthusiasts from far and wide, as a range of the oldest to those race cars most recently retired take to the track in the Annual Rolex Challenge. What a memorable experience!

Flamingo

Though you probably won't find a live flamingo standing around in Highlands County, it really depicts the characteristics of Florida. It is eloquent, peaceful,and striking; with an ambience of richness!
